We are consistently asked if we can just change out the control computer and keep everything else. That is now possible with Centroid's latest MPU11 hardware set. Removing your old CNC computer and integrating a new PC based controller requires a significant amount of knowledge. Complete documentation for the old control components will be needed. Reliability is potentially a problem as all of your retained components will still have significant years & mileage on them. You can save dollars up front but don't fail to evaluate the potential cost over the life of your machine tool. There is considerable value to be realized when thinking in terms of lifecycle cost verses upfront investment.
